What is bio-ethanol?
The bio-ethanol is an alcohol of biological and agricultural origin which is obtained by the fermentation of plants such as beet, sugar cane, wheat or corn. It is part of the renewable energy family
An ecological combustible.
The bio-ethanol is ecological since the CO² produced during its combustion is compensated by the one absorbed during the life of the vegetable from which it comes from. Results: to burn bio-ethanol does not increase green house effects.
How to get bio-ethanol?
VULCANIA can deliver bio-ethanol to your door. It is packaged in 20 L containers. You may place an order on line. Furthermore, chains such as Leroy Merlin or Castorama are currently developing its distribution.
How to store it?
For safety reasons, the bio-ethanol must not be stored within the reach of children or close to any heating device. Cellars or garages are recommended.
No evacutation conducts/ no heat loss :
The BIO fireplace does not require an evacuation conduct since the combustion of bio-ethanol does not produce either smoke nor odor. Furthemore, the CO² it produces is equal to the one of 2 candles.
A traditional fireplace looses 2/3 of the energy it produces through its conduct. It is not the case for the BIO Fireplace which distributes the entirety of the heat produced by the combustion throughout the room.
Smoke free/Odor free/Ash free :
The bio-ethanol is an alcohol specially distilled for heating. Residues have been totally suppressed and as a result its combustion does not produce either smoke nor odor and does not leave any ashes.
Little CO² fumes:
When burning bio-ethanol generates CO² and vapor.
The quantity of CO² produced by a BIO Fireplace is comparable to the one of 2 candles.
Economic space heater:
A Bio-fireplace consumes approximately 0,5 liters per hour of Bio Ethanol.
The hourly cost is 0,90 euro (1l = 1,80 €TTC)
With a power of 3,6 kW, in the 1 hour, a Bio-fireplace allows to increase the temperature of a room of 40m2 by 6 in 8°C (according to the heat insulation).
Large autonomy of combustion :
A 5 liter burner allows an autonomy of 8-10 hours according to the opening of the trapdoor.
A 2,5 liter burner allows an autonomy of 5-6 hours according to the opening of the trapdoor.
Easy to displace:
Since there are no evacuation conducts, the BIO Fireplace is easily displaced.
If you move, you can take it with you which makes it ideal for renters!
Installation :
- Open the packaging with caution so as to avoid scratching the surfaces with a sharp object.
- Take the BIO-Fireplace out of its packaging and place it in the chosen location. The surface must be flat. Verify that there are no objects or fabrics easily flammable close to the BIO-Fireplace such as curtains, fabrics, etc.
- Install the VULCANIA burner in its reserved location in the fireplace. Verify with the help of the rod supplied with the burner that the opening and closing device functions well.
The VULCANIA burner:
The VULCANIA burner of the BIO-Fireplaces is composed of the following elements:
- Basin of the burner (filler cap)
- Adjusting slot
- Body of the burner
Filling the burner:
- If the burner has already been lit, wait 10 minutes before refilling it, make sure that the burner is cold and that there is no flame. Do not smoke while filling.
- If there is some bio-ethanol left in the basin when you want to restart, please make sure to wait at least 10 minutes (with the trap door open so as to ventilate) before relighting the device.
- Open the trap door of the burner using the rod that you insert in both of the adjusting slots. Fill the basin up with bio-ethanol.
- Please make sure not to overflow the basin and that nothing has spilled outside the basin.
- Please make sure to have clean hands (no residue of fuel on the skin) before lighting the burner.
- Before lighting, make sure that the container is closed and away from the fireplace.
- Dunk the rod in the basin full of bio-ethanol. Light the rod with a lighter and direct it towards the bio-ethanol present in the basin.
Directions for the burner :
- To open and close the burner, use the rod that you insert in both slots in order to push and pull the trap door.
The height of the flame and the force of heat are regulated by the trap door opening size.
Extinguishing of the burner :
- The burner may be turned off while operating.
- To shut off the burner, place the snuffer on the flame in order to extinguish. After 10 minutes close the trap door using the rod so that the bio-ethanol does not evaporate.
Lighting and relighting :
The burner may be relit :
- If it has been previously shut off for over 10 mn.
- If the exterior of the burner feels cold to the touch.
- If the trap door has been opened properly so as to ventilate the basin.
- If there is no trace of bio-ethanol to be found around the burner.
- If the container of bio-ethanol is closed and far from the burner.
- If the burner is not next to flammable material.
- If no child or animal is in the vicinity.
instructions and safety regulations
Congratulations, you are now the owner of a VULCANIA BIO-Fireplace
The conception of this product has been subject to safety controls. However for your safety there are still a few precautions to be respected when using our BIO-Fireplace.
Please read carefully this document before turning on your BIO-Fireplace.
CAUTION:
The VULCANIA BIO-Fireplaces function only with a flammable liquid: the bio-ethanol. Its use requires a certain amount of caution. If you fully respect these instructions, you will be able to use your VULCANIA BIO-Fireplace safely.
SAFETY REGULATIONS :
- The non compliance with the regulations mentioned hereafter may result in serious burns as well as a risk of fire.
- Please make sure to follow the user’s guide of your BIO-Fireplace and place it on a horizontal surface.
- Please make sure to use only "heating system" bio-ethanol in the hearth of your BIO-Fireplace since it benefits from a specific distillation and does not cause odors.
- Do not use any petroleum derivative products meant for other use such as: gasoline, white-spirit, burning alcohol, etc.
- Keep children and animals away from the BIO-Fireplace when lighting.
- The ignition, as explained in the user’s manual shall only be performed with the help of a match or a lighter.
- No ignition product must be added if the hearth is partially lit or in function.
- Please wait for the hearth to cool down before adding any more bio-ethanol and relight the flame (at least 10 minutes).
- After combustion, if there is any bio-ethanol left in the basin please make sure to wait for at least 10 minutes while opening the trap door (to let the air in) before relighting.
- Do not manipulate the burner when lit except to operate the closing rod.
- Do not blow on the flame to shut it off.
- Please respect any municipal or prefectorial decrees in regards to fires. It is forbidden to light fires near resinous trees and generally speaking in forests during the summer season.
- Please plan on fire extinguishers near the BIO-Fireplace.
- In the case of burns, please call the nearest hospital.
- Do not apply grease on the burn. If it is superficial and local, only proceed to cool with fresh water for several minutes. Please consult a doctor if any doubt regarding the seriousness of the burn.
- Never dispose of the fuel by pouring it down in drains, in the ground or waterways. Please respect the environment!
- Do not use in a room under 10m² without any opening or proper ventilation. Use your Bio-Fireplace only in well ventilated areas. People with respiratory disorders should seek medical advice before use.
